Despite the fact that she was unable to get into art school due to her partial blindness, Alevtina Pyzhova was discovered by the general public in the 1990s. Her ironic, quirky paintings became known when she took part in a television talent show. Although the decorative nature and bright colours in her paintings put her in the category of a naïve artist, her work is distinguished by the erotic scenes with humorous echoes that punctuate it.
