Christine REMACLE
(Belgium, 1967-2014)
Christine Remacle draws heads with great majesty, which comes from her fascination for other people. She takes us into a world peopled with her friends or “husbands”, as she sometimes calls them. Her point of departure is not an existing model; they are people who come into her head, who inhabit her daily life and her imagination.
Eyes and mouths take shape as her hand works on the colour. The first step is to cover the paper with a kind of painted background, and on this base she uses a hand that is always expressive, sometimes violent and uncontrolled, sometimes precise and full of sensibility. Hand and colour come together to reflect her intense need to communicate through faces but also through landscapes that possess great serenity. She draws in La Hesse in Vielsalm.
