After the heavy burden of raising her five children alone, Encarnaçao Baptista was surprised to find within herself a strong desire to paint. In her essential and derisory work, she paints a universal childhood. The presence of the dot is predominant in her paintings, whether as a decorative element or as part of a straight line or other types of lines.
