Mohammed TARGA
(Marocco, 1960-)
During his six-year stay in the Nivelles prison, Mohammed Targa took part in the prison's painting workshops. This activity enabled him to manage his time and cope better with the conditions of incarceration. He created works of rare truth and expressivity that bear witness to a painful identity situation. Painting offered him a concrete opportunity to abolish, transform and, above all, overcome the constraints imposed by society.
