Oscar HAUS
(Belgium, 1939-2018)
Despite being retired, Oscar Haus visits La Pommeraie centre's painting studio every day to talk about various things, but above all of his love for music (he has played the accordion since childhood). It was during these visits that Bruno Gérard, the studio leader, invited him to come and take part in the studio’s activities. Oscar Haus then began to draw everyday things using coloured pencils. It would be some time before he developed a distinctive body of work, with the accordion as his central and unique theme. Over time, a book on the accordion (given to him by a centre employee) and the discovery of Karisma coloured pencils, with an intensity like no other, led to the development of his remarkable body of work.
