Sieberen De Vries has gradually moved into portrait painting, depicting the faces of famous people. In his work, however, he never idealises the men and women he paints. Their large eyes cling tenaciously to the viewer. Their wrinkled foreheads, gleaming teeth, media-savvy grimaces and freckled faces immediately appeal, thanks to Sieberen's grand brushstrokes.
