Wolfgang MARX
(Germany, 1946-2011)
Wolfgang Marx glues, assembles and embroiders his work, which resembles a diary. The richly decorated binders bring together childhood memories, feelings and impressions transcribed in red biro or Dymo, family photos, Christmas decorations... all generously adorned with sequins.
These objects become glittering baroque works of art, fashioned using thousands of nylon threads that protrude from the work. The artist is very attached to his creations, keeping them with him and finding it hard to part with them permanently. An intimate treasure chest, they are the intense reflection of his life.
